BOS is a retail company with 10 branches and an HQ. All branches are connected to the HQ through dedicated wireless link. Each location has its internal network, CCTV system and Wi-Fi. All branches communicate with the ERP system available in the HQ for any Data transaction. Their main concern is the ERP’s data security and High availability.

 

 

 

With 10 branches and a main office, the business was facing consistent network disconnections especially between branches due to the flat network design, let alone the high security breach risk due to missing firewall, access restrictions and on top unrestricted guest access. Their main ERP system was constantly subject to failure due to the high load imposed on the main server’s resources and with no backup plan in site business continuity was at risk. Finally, the support from the company’s internal IT department lacked response speed. 

 

 

 

ITWorksMe professional team optimized the network performance by installing managed switches, configuring VLANs and separating the Wi-Fi and guest network from the local LAN. A firewall was installed and configured to allow only the needed traffic both outbound and inbound. A 3 layer network was designed to secure the Business’ critical data and ERP system, it also reduced the risk of falling victim of data theft and sabotage and even data loss. The high availability plan implemented ensured business continuity and reduced the chances of system failure by distributing the available resources adequately between the systems based on the resources usage report analytics. Internet consumption was reduced alongside the internet cost after implementing QOS and traffic shaping rules based on the internet usage statistics generated by the firewall. Wifi segmentation enhanced the overall wifi coverage and added a layer of security to the wifi network ensuring smooth connectivity and timely task completion for all tasks performed to the wifi network.
